Hi, wondering if someone could help...i bought a 2nd hand Joe Meek Vc3pro v2.02. The unit came with a USA 'CONDOR' transformer- input=120v 60hz 18W output=12VAC 1000mA...this is no good as we have 240v here, in Australia. Local Joe Meek supplier said get any 12VAC 1000mA transformer as they did not have any for this model.

Bought a transformer- input=240v ac 50hz... output=12v ac 1AMP.

Unit sounds clean with sm58 shure into it...compression etc doesn't seem to do much?

phantom powered Auditechnica mic - unit makes terrible variable oscillating low hum...this is there most of the time but sometimes rarely disappears- also tried another condenser mic and is the same...this noise is there without a mic in, and as soon as phantom switch turned on. Mics work fine in another unit.

Could this variable low hum be due to the power brick? 50hz? unregulated?

Any help would be much appreciated

cycat,

Since you bought a 240V supply, my take is you are in the EU or UK. Could be an issue in the phantom supply. The older Ted Fletcher Meek's were suspect to phantom issues.

This can be fixed, and our office in the UK can do that if you wish. Let me know if you want to contact our UK office for tech service...

Alan,

Sorry to be the one to piont this out but the OP clearly states he is here, in Australia.

Opps. oh well. Front End Audio has a service department, or for that fact, and good tech should be able to fix this
