hi everyone..

this forum needs a bit of life :D

im in the process of getting a pair of decent entry nearfields for my good 'ol trusty korg D1200, and im looking at these two options...i really dont have money, and i really cant save up cause i have to make some key purchases before paying off my debt... i can probably only stretch it out to the 200 euros region to make it till the esi near05's...but these other ones appeared...something by The box or whatever...check 'em out:

http://www.thomann.de/thoiw10_the_box_nf06a_aktivnahfeldmonitor_prodinfo .html#fpix

this is exactly on my price range (150 euros), and it specs out a tad better in comparison with the esi's...

here are the esi's:

these are a bit more expensive (198 euros), but if they're worth the price difference i shall pay the difference...but not without much trouble and cutting back on a stomp or two that i need very badly, or some better cabling, or whatever

anyways, what do you guys think? ever heard of The Box? i had no idea that these things existed, and cant even find a website...

tanx in advance...

There are lots of monitors coming in from China, so it is easy for Thomann to get ones done for them. As far as their quality, who knows. Maybe good, maybe bad... This is the gamble if you will. Thomann is a good store, so I do not think they will sell junk, but what is their return policy if you do not like them?

Monitors are personal preference and then how do they act in the room you have. Tough decision!

tanx for the opinion Alan..

ill go with them...i have to be cost effective..they do spec out pretty good..and being generic and all, kind of puts the price right where i want it...the T.bone mics especially produced for thomann are nothing to write home about (so ppl say), but their tube mic and the ribbon ocasionaly pic up a good review..let's see what happens..unfortunately i wont be able to tell if the monitors are good or not cause i dont have anything decent to compare  but what the heck...its just 150 euros..i might get lucky.

tanx!

Just FYI, I picked up a pair of the M-Audio BX-5's for $200 US shipped. Obviously international shipping would add to the price, but now that the new version of these (BX5a) are out, the originals might be even cheaper. They're pretty good sounding for a small room, and they get pretty positive reviews all over the place. Some people swear by them and the SBX woofer as their main monitors.

tanx for the sugestion One room..

thing is...bx5's are more like 280 bucks here or something...and thomann doesnt lower their stuff, they stp sellin it..for instance as soon as the new dx4's came out, they stopped selling the old ones that went for 150 euros...

but tanx, really...im gonna go with these, figure ill just roll the dice... if i cant find anything decent used on ebay..

prices in europe are pretty rough all the time :/

but tanx!
