Hi,
Just a few questions, can't wait for aussie shipment.
Who is developing the digital board for the ATB console?
What is is the reasoning behind its functionality?
What sort of quality will it be(ball park)?
What sort of price will it be(ball park)?
Thanks

Who is developing the digital board for the ATB console? The board was speced by us and designed by CeEntrance
What is is the reasoning behind its functionality? To allow you to get in and out of the 8 groups and the L/R feeds
What sort of quality will it be(ball park)? It uses the DICEII chip and very good converters, so the quality will be very good, but not as good as the expensive Apoge and others like it.
What sort of price will it be(ball park)? We estimate that it will sell in the rage of $600.00, and we may let CeEntrace sell it direct rather than us selling it....

Hi Alan,
will the digital card have wordclock input so it can be synched up if needs be?
About the DICE II...
The DICE II chip is very common in just about every firewire audio device around
these days, such as the Alesis Multimix and I think a lot of Presonus and
among others. It's a low latency, flexible design. It's quite reliable
and has a good sound.
The quality of the DICE II is pretty much in
how the engineer chooses to handle it, as the chip can be implemented
about a dozen different ways. Then, provided the guy who writes the device
driver for the application (mixer, interface, whatever) is clever with their
code, then it will either work really well or have lots of latency and glitches.
On the Mac, the DICE II is supported natively by Core Audio so the chip
works really well, mostly (I have a TASCAM 1804 right now with the DICE II).
Under Evilware, you might find a bit of variation in driver quality, as the
chip is not natively supported, so everyone has to cut their own code
which varies in quality from vendor to vendor!
