First off, I have a C1 that I love using on vocals. I'm looking for a pair of mics for stereo acoustic guitar recording. I keep hearing that everyone likes the B1 sound on acoustic guitars. How do the C4s compare? I've heard great things about C4s as overheads, but for acoustic guitar would a pair of B1s be the way to go?

Both are very good. Both B1 and C4's work for acoustic, overheads, piano, horns and more...The difference is the fullness of the sound that results from a large diaphram mic to a small diaphragm.
So, choosing is difficult. I would get both pairs... B1's also will work well on vocals and C4 in Omni will work well as a room mic.

I agree with Alan on the B1 and C4, but the C4 is smoother off axis than the B1, so the C4 will give you a more "accurate" picture of the guitar. Because of the larger B1 diaphragm size, the B1 will produce a more "flattering" picture of the guitar; think "warmer," "bigger," and "rounder."
Which is most appropriate to the music is for you to decide.
The B1 is more "flattering"; the C4 is more "accurate."
At the ridiculously low prices these sell for, Alan is right; get both.

I just happened to be poking around here after being away for quite some time and I noticed this particular thread. The B1 is my go-to mic for acoustic guitar. You can see/hear it in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i50tJD1vCBU . The right channel is the B1 running through the ElectroHarmonix 12AY7 preamp. The left channel is from the Roland pickup.
