Hi Reid.
Question. I own the TB1 and love it on my voice. But, I would like another mic for recording my background vocals. It would be just myself or another singer. I've heard it is better to record backgrounds with a different mic. Would the new B1 be a good choice? I would still use my TB1 for my lead vocals.
Oh, also, I got a TB1 I didn't get a shock mount, but, I thought it was because I bought a B stock mic. Will the new B series shock mounts work with my TB1?
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Earl,
Sorry to take so long to get back to you on this. Must have fallen asleep at the wheel.
the B1 is a terrific all-round microphone for almost any application. Though it only has one pattern - it's the one you'll need 95% of the time, especially if you're in a home studio environment. It is fairly neutral sounding, meaining it doesn't add or subtract much, and is actually one of the quietest mics we make! You'll find it works really well for everything from vocals to guitar cabinets... and everything in between.
I think it would be an excellent addition to your growing mic locker!

Thanks Reid for the input.
I thought it might be nice as a different sound for background vocals.
If I order the new B1 will the shock mount it comes with work on my TB1? My TB1 came with the clip.
Thanks again.

Earl,
The B1 is not known for its vocal prowess. While so many have said they love it for vocals, many have not.
The B1 is basically the condenser version of the Shure SM57. A do all mic that does well on everything, yet seems to excel at many applications. How it works for you is not known, but at its price, it should be a mic that should be in everyone's locker...especially a pair of them.

So Alan, are you suggesting I try maybe a C-1 to give me a change in color? That's fine. I really want the color of the mic to be different but at this point I want the lead/main vocals to be on the TB1. I know it's a while before the ribbons becomes available, but any other suggestions would be fine.
Also, the main reason for getting the another mic is to be able to do my own background vocals with a slightly different sound than the main vocals.
Idea?
Thanks!

Well the TB1 is really a tube C1, just less sheen and not as much color. The new C1 is really nice though...Maybe a choice you should consider.

OK, I didn't know the TB1 was a C1 with a tube. I originally wanted to get the new C1 but I needed a mic now and Justin said the TB1 B stock was a great deal. I agree!
So, I think I'll save back and get the new C1. I really wanted to get a ribbon from you guys, but, if I read the post on the ribbon thread correctly, the SP ribbon will be around $2,000. Is that correct? If so, I won't be getting one for quite some time. But, I will be interested in the Meek ribbon!
Thanks for the new info.
