I've got the original T3. Just wondering how the new T3 coming out soon is different?

Also since I've got a T3, would it make sense to have a C1 as well for vocals? Is the sound of the C1 much different than a T3, or would it be redundant to have a C1 for vocals if I've already got a T3?

Thanks!

the new T3 had a couple of changes that will affect the sound of the mic. there was a capacitor change in the high impedance section. Also, the new grill and head stock will affect the sonic qualities slightly (in a a good way).

Not to mention, you get the really cool new look!

Thanks Reid for the reply.

Also, just wondering if it would make sense to get a C1 for vocals in addition to my T3, or would the C1 be close enough in sound to the T3 for vocals?

Lastly, does the difference in sound of the new T3 make it worthwhile to get this and sell my older model T3?

Thanks for your help!

tbro,

The C1 is more of an agressive mic. It makes the vocals sit up close in the mix. I like that for a lot of tracks where the vocals are the key to the track, but each to his own. I think the C1 is a great mic to have in the locker and to be used when applicable...which could be a good deal of time. Of course this is my opinion and is heavily biased...

Regarding selling your T3, that's a tough call. If you're satisfied with the sound you've been getting, why change? A lot of major releases were done with the old style T3.

On the other hand, I can tell you is that I'm planning on the new one (sold my older model a month or so ago). Perhaps waiting until the new ones arrive, then auditioning one side-by side with your exisiting unit would make sense?

Hi Reid,

Thanks for your reply. For now I'll hang on to the old T3. Possibly will do a side by side test at some point.

Thanks again.
