View Full Version : Can VTB1 power a CAD M179? (enough juice?)

Interested in picking up a CAD M179 and the reviews I've seen comment about it needs more oomph than similar condensers - the specs say "Minimum Requirements are 24, 48 Volt Phantom Power capable of delivering at least 8 mA."

I don't see the specs for the VTB1 mentioning its mA capabilities, and can't find any reviews where someone has used the VTB1 and M179 together - so there's no telling!

Can anyone shed any light on this? The answer would determine whether I should order up this mic or not (I've no way to try it out, and would like to avoid making an error that costs).

Thank you!

James

This is not a problem. Earthworks need 10 mA, and they are fine on the VTB1....
