1. Have become a reseller and am assisting some people in choosing a mic preamp and mics. They're looking closely at a C1 and TB-1, and are now on hold until the new C1 arrives, and also on hold in foaming at the mouth in curiosity about the new bottle mics.
Can you provide any insight as to the sonic difference in the new C1? And what can we expect from the new bottle mics?
2. Also interested in the ever-pending VTB-2. What realm of preamps will it fall into? Is this the one Dan over at the Listening Room said he proposed/designed? How will it compare to the VTB-1 (different league I suspect), and to the Meek line?
In appreciation,
Bruce

New C1 has way more output, less noise, tighter bottom end, and the top end is smoother. It has more air and less sizzle
The bottle mics are just a killer sounding mic. It sounds very expensive and behaves like the big boy mics. It is a mic that I personally can not find anything wrong with.
VTB2 has been a troublesome product as we had to change designers along the way, so it has been delayed and put on the back shelf a bit. It will still get done, but for now we are busy with other things. In the end, it will be a true 300V tube design with lots of features....

Thank Alan. I read that you expect the new C line some time in September. How about the bottles?

Alan is off galavanting around the world on business, so I'll pick this one up.
The new CS series of mics (the bottles you're referring to) are in the final prototyping stages. I wouldn't expect to see these hitting the streets this year, but..... maybe.
As for the new C Series mics, C1's, C3's, and T3's are on the way and should be in our warehouses within the next few weeks. C4's to follow later (as discussed in another thread).
I hope this helps you in directing your client to a successful solution.
