Alan, or anyine else, could you repost the stats and other info about the mixer. I can't find it anywhere else, and I would imagine I'm not the only one who can't remeber all the details. Thanks,

-Peter

Peter,

The updates are this:

All modules are done. Initial test and debug is done. Modules are in prototype now. We are having enough modules made at the factory now for four consoles. We will build them and then both Malcolm and myself will have one for futher test and debug.

We will send the other two to a couple of people that have a lot of console experience to use and see if they can find any issues. We "hope" to show one at the AES Show, but it will not be the final look, as the metal work, graphics and control knobs are still in the design phase.

If all goes well, we want to deliver the first 10 or 20 units before the end of the year...if possible....

So, depending on the parts suppliers and their delivery times, we are on target...maybe a few weeks behind but not much. In the end its more about any technical issues we might miss. That is the reason we are sending two consoles out to a couple of guys that use them all day long.

Either way, on target or a little late, the console should be a very cool unit. The digital option card may not be available with the first shipments, but they are just a plug in card, so they can be added later. The digital card is also very full featured... Firewire, AES/EBU, ADAT, SPDIF, Optical, Word Clock IN/OUT, and more.

So, there is the update. It is coming soon....

So the desk will incorporate digital I/O for each channel and return, communicated via Firewire? I.E. - With the digital card, could this desk serve as the entire interface for a PC, no extra PC hardware required? How much is the digital card going to run at?

The full desk, meterbridge and digital I/O would be a fearsome product and with possible sidecars ... it could be expandable for full-size studio action!

After I upgrade my stage piano, change my acoustic, sort my snare drum out and treat my room better .... I will definitely be saving for one of these. :)

All questions will be answered shortly on the digital output card...

Are you guys still planning to show the board at AES? I'm definitely curious to see it!

Me also.

Are you able to disclose where you want to place the console in the market price-wise? I assume it will be above and beyond the Tascam FW1884 by quite some margin.

also, did you plan to have several models depending on # of channels, or will there be only 1 unit with a fixed channel count? Will all channels on the desk have mic pres/EQ or some line only?

We do intend to show it at the AES unless something drastic happens, but the console is being assembled right now. It may not be in its final cosmetic rendering oe even light up for the show, but we are trying to get it there to at least show what it will offer. The modules work, as I have heard them at our office in the UK.

There will be three configurations, 16, 24 and 32 inputs. The ATB-16 has 16 mic/line inputs and mixes 56 inputs to 2buss. For now, we are holding our breath until it arrives in New York for the show. No specs will be released until it is finished and fully tested. :)

32 channels is a great idea - it makes the desk a genuine contender for 'proper' studio work - especially if it sounds as good as it should!

Hi everyone. This is my first post since the forum renewal. Thanks. Hey Alan, don't mean to "rush" you (smile) but after you get the 16 channel up and running, will the larger boards be released at the same time,or will it be a sequential start-up? ( 24 channel then 32 channel ) Also... will they have meterbridges? Thanks!.. :)

The 16 and 24 will be at the same time. The 32 will be about 45 to 60 days after that..... I am not sure how many people want 32 channels, so I will not keep but a few of them in stock for now. The 24 channels has 72 inputs mixing to two buss...How much more is needed? The 32 would mix 88 inputs!

Just one reference point in favor of the 32 channel board.

I'm using a 24-channel Ghost with a Radar24. There are times (which seem to be increasing in number) when I'm mixing up to 22-23 tracks. I've got a KSP-8 with the 4-channel analog expander in it so I can, when needed, run up to 8 mono or 4 different stereo FX on any given song (the occurence of which also seems to be on the rise).

As it stands now, I typically have to use the Ghost's dedicated returns to bring the FX back into the board. This works of course, but it would sure be nice to have another 8 channels on the board dedicated for bringing those FX returns back in on individual channels. This would increase the flexibility of those FX returns by allowing me to EQ, pan, compress and do other completely stupid things to them that I currently can't with a 24-channel board limitation.

In general, I'm satisfied with the performance of the Ghost and I could probably pony up the coin for a 32-channel version. However, I'm really interested in the possibility of switching to Malcolm's new board as it seems like it would be a pretty significant sonic improvement.

Yeah, I'll second the 32 channel. I'm currently using a Tascam M-2600mkII, so far been pretty happy with it. But...definately considering the Toft if it outperforms my Tascam! :D .. What do you think? Oh yeah, Alan, will these consoles have meterbridges? Thanks!

Hey Allen,

Do you have the information about the digital i/o of this board? It would be great for me to be able to route digital signals in the same way as analog signals. If you could please go into detail on this.

Thanks
