OK Alan, is there still a plan for a SP ribbon mic? I'm looking into one and will have a chance to try one out soon.
Let me know. I'd rather get it from you.

Yes, in fact Ted Perlman is using them now. Ted has a forum on this site, so got to it and ask Ted what he thinks... They are the prototypes of the new ribbon mics.

Thanks Alan,
Any indication of when these might be available?
Any estimated cost?
Thanks

Next year, but no specific time. We are still getting feedback from some high profile users before we make final decisions.

OK. I'm full of lust for an RCA looking ribbon mic. So....have you desided on a certain style or are you at the point where the look of the mic is set in stone? I just love the retro look and it might be a nice addition to the other mics. I'm really partial to the RCA-44! (hint hint) :D It's just sooooo classy looking. Also, it wouldn't look like other Chinese ribbon mics.
Just a thought.

Earl,
Right now the protoype is in a T3 body with a different headgrille. It will not have that fat old vintage look, but it will have that AEA sound, only fuller and bigger...at least that is what Joe Chicarrelli said so far.
It will also not be a ton of money, but will not be cheap either. So time will tell..

Great! I'm lovin' my TB1 and the threeQ. I have found I need very little eq and the compression is sooo smooth. I still want to get a ribbon and also a new C1 in the future just to give me more variety for my voice.
If you ever want a non-pro to try out the new ribbon............. ;)
Thanks again Alan.

Hi Alan
I'm new to the forum. I was just about to drop my tiny speck of money on a Cascade Fathead ribbon mic to see if it's any good - haven't used ribbons before and I need to find something that works with my voice (kind of a Bowie/Gabriel/Waits thing). Just found out you're getting ready to release ribbons!
PLEASE give me an idea of when and how much - found out one will be in the Meek line and one is a SP. Won't hold you to the price - just need to get a ballpark figure (between what and what would work fine) and how long I'd have to wait.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE?

Wish I could be more specific. Target on the beast is under $2K..how much I don't know yet. We hope the budget Meek will be under $500.00, but it is much better than the cheapo's.
I am sending Harvey the Meek Ribbon to test...he just does not know it yet...
