Do you need to use a preamp with the TB1 or could I put it straight into my EMU 1212 sound card. I realize it doesn't use phantom power, but I didn't know if it needed a preamp.
I'm comparing the C1 to the TB1.
I have a mixer with preamps, but I want to upgrade after Christmas with a Joemeek oneQ.
Also, if anyone has any comments about the TB1, I'd like to hear them.
Thanks

Thanks Justin for your help on the phone!
Just an update to let you know I've just ordered a B Stock TB1 and I'm very excited! The last C1 was sold before I got the chance to buy it and Justin helped me make the decision to go ahead with the TB1 and gave the in info about needing a preamp.
I will post a note when I get it and have a chance to use it.
Next will be the ThreeQ. Can't wait!

Alan, I just can't wait to get it! I've been looking at the C1 for months but I couldn't make up my mind. But with the B stock C1 being sold, and the new C1's going up in price, and after Justin reassuring me the TB1 would be even better than the C1, I just had to grab it!
I just sold my only studio mic on ebay and it will pay for the preamp. I should have the transfer by Friday and will be ordering the ThreeQ.
I'm so excited! :D
I'll post some clips as soon as I get it.
Thanks again,
Earl Green

That's all I can say. It just arrived. I read the directions, set it up, took 5 minutes, then opened Sonar to a song I just did a test vocal on with my old mic and again all I can say is WOW.
I still need to find a way of posting clips.
I recorded the vocal dry. Then added soft compression and a little Lexicon Pantheon reverb and that was it. No eq needed. My wife listened to it through all the stages and she said it was the closed to my natural voice she had heard.
I did try to add a high pass filter and noticed a bit less bass on the vocal but in the mix it was not so noticable.
It's a winner.
Monday I get the ThreeQ and will be able to compress and eq before recording. That should be fun to play with!
Thanks again Justin & Alan.
