Hey all!

I thought I might start a discussion on getting distortion (wanted!) from the new Joe Meek models. i am using a oneQ and have been having a hard time getting a "pleasing" kind that doesnt sound bad.

example: im running a drum loop through it, hitting the transformer button, cranking up the gain and turning down the output. also been turned up the compression... so far, i havent been able to get much thats nice and smooth, its all crunchy and nasty so far.

do you have any tricks?

surely someone out there is using and abusing a new oneQ, twinQ, or 6q to destroy sounds?

If you're running into the line input, try the mic input instead. You are sure to create more distortion that way, plus the transformer only appears on the mic input signal path. Also, toss that enhancer in there, crank the hell out of the eq to taste and squash it with the comp. That should do it.

Thanks for the reply Brent--- are you sure about the transformer comment? I know it doesnt appear across the back line input, but I think its on the front line input (verified with a click when the line button is pushed)

as for my testing, theres the click on both mic inputs, and the instrument input on the front.

Yes, I am sure. The mic input transformer is only on the mic input.
