Greetings,

Just got a TB1 and did my first recordings with it yesterday (vocals). Love it! Two questions:

- Any reason I can't use the shock-mount I received with my C1 on the TB1?
- Yesterday I got an intermittent hum when using the mic - pretty loud, too. I'm not sure what was causing it... I didn't move the mic or cables at all: I'd just cut a track, then switch and do a few others, and when listening back one out of about every 10 would have this serious hum on it. Anything I should check in particular?

Really dig this mic!

Sounds like the grille isn't making a solid connection to the body shell. Try tighening the screws or taking the grille assembly off and making sure you have solid bare metal contact. Scrape off the paint/anodize where they meet.

By all means you can use the C1 mount. Nothing says you have to use the TB1 mount.

Call Brent on our toll free line and discuss the noise thing. I have never had a bad TB1 in our shop yet, so this is some news... No explanations... Sounds like a cold solder joint somewhere to me....

Alan: I'll give him a call. I've got some sound clips with the hum in it, too, in case he wants them. Thanks for the quick reply. (FWIW: I bought this brand new from http://www.scitscat.com.)

hargerst: Thanks for the advice - I may bring your idea up when I call Brent.
